The start of an exciting new year
The new year and the start of a new decade is upon us.
For me, it is an exciting, but slightly daunting, start to what will be a busy eighteen months of hard work, preparing and writing the text for the ten projects I have made for a book to be published by Country Bumpkin Publishing, in Australia, on 28th July 2011. The book will be distributed for sale, worldwide, with a launch at a major Show in the UK next year.
As many of you know, I was approached by the publishers to write a book of projects about a year ago and since then, I have been designing and making both two dimensional quilts/wallhangings as well as three dimensional items such as garments, a bag and a purse. The practical work has been a great pleasure to do, but now the prospect of writing the text is quite daunting as, although I have written many magazine projects and articles before, a book requires far more in depth information. However, Anna, my editor, is very encouraging and patiently explains every step to me. I just hope I don't let her down. I have been writing non-stop now for just over a month and already, I can see that this book is going to be enormous so I just hope Anna has got her red editing pen at the ready. I will keep you all updated with my progress through this blog over the coming months.
I have also received an exciting invitation to teach at the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles residential weekend, at Stirling University in Scotland, on 17/18/19 June 2011. I understand that this biennial event is always great fun and I am looking forward to it enormously.
I can see the snow falling from my window this morning, which means that our coldest winter in 30 years is still far from over. At least I have no excuses now other than to stay indoors and bash away at my computer keyboard.
Best wishes to you all,
Jacquie
